Founded in 2014 by Emmi Lemmetty-Garcia, a new mother, Skandino originated from her concern about the excessive use of plastic in the world of baby products. As her newborn grew into a toddler and developed new skills, including independent eating, Emmi, a specialist in language accessibility, identified issues with conventional sippy cups no longer recommended by many speech therapists worldwide.

This led Emmi to collaborate with speech therapists, occupational therapists, and designers to create an innovative child-friendly design cup, complemented by a design plate and spoon, aiming to promote the holistic development of children. The plate encourages independent eating, while the spoon is ergonomically shaped for small hands and fits perfectly into a little mouth.

Skandino's products consider the individual development and needs of babies. Emmi sought to introduce no more plastic products and began the search for sustainable alternatives. After years of intensive research, she found a pure material composed of 98% natural fibers, pine wood, and sugarcane. This material meets the highest ecological standards, is extremely durable, and feels pleasant on the skin.
